What to Do When No One Says THANK YOU

Dear Sisterfriend,

I hope that you have felt loved during Pastor’s Wife Appreciation Month? It’s a beautiful reminder of the love and honor you deserve for the countless ways you serve, support, and sacrifice in ministry. But I also know that for many pastors’ wives, this month can bring feelings of being unseen, unappreciated, or even forgotten.  I get it!  Been there done that

If no one in your church acknowledges you this month, I want you to hear this clearly: Your work matters. Your prayers matter. Your late nights, your tears, your sacrifices—they all matter. Most importantly, God sees you. And He is the best rewarder of all.

When You Feel Unseen 🌹

It’s easy to look for appreciation from those around us, and while it’s wonderful when it happens, human recognition is often inconsistent. But the One who called you sees every single thing you do. Hebrews 6:10 reminds us, “God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.” You are not working for people—you are working for the Lord, and He never overlooks a single act of love.

How to Feel Appreciated Even When No One Recognizes You ❤️

If you’re feeling discouraged, here are some ways to shift your perspective and refresh your heart:

  1. Let God Be Your Source of Validation. ⛪

Spend time in His presence through worship and prayer. Soak in His love for you and tell Him how much you love Him. Open His Word and be reminded of how precious you are to Him.

  2. Celebrate Yourself. 🎉

Instead of waiting for others to recognize you, take a moment to reflect on all that God has accomplished through you. Perhaps write in a journal the many ways that you have blessed others. Treat yourself to something special—a favorite coffee, a quiet moment with a book, or a walk in nature. You deserve it!

  3. Connect with Others Who Understand. 🫂

You are not alone! Reach out to another pastor’s wife, send a text of encouragement, or have a conversation with someone who truly understands the weight and the beauty of this calling. Community can be a powerful source of encouragement. You can find genuine love and community in my private Facebook group – Called 2 Ministry. Join us there!

  4. Keep an Encouragement File. 💪

Start a journal or a folder where you save notes, messages, or moments when someone has thanked or blessed you. When you feel unappreciated, go back and remind yourself that your labor has made an impact. I do this regularly, and it always gives me an emotional boost.

  5. Speak Life Over Yourself. ❣️

Proverbs 18:1 tells us that “Death and life are in the tongue…:” Instead of dwelling on what hasn’t been said to you, speak life into your life. Remind yourself daily: I am loved. I am chosen. I am called. I am making a difference.

You Are Valued 🌹

Sweet friend, please know that you are appreciated more than you will ever know. I appreciate you, and so many others do too. They just don’t always take the time to say it. More importantly, God appreciates you—far beyond what human words can express. You are a gift to your husband, to your church, and to the Kingdom of God. Keep going. Keep loving. Keep shining!

With much love and appreciation,

susan
