After the High of Easter… Now What?

Dear Sisterfriend,

You made it. Easter Sunday is one of the most powerful, hope-filled, and high-energy days on the church calendar, and it is now behind you. The sanctuary was fuller than normal, the worship was vibrant, the message was clear, and hearts were stirred. People received Jesus as Savior.  You poured out everything—your prayers, your strength, your creativity, and your heart.

And now…WHAT? It’s only been a few days since Easter, and you’re starting to feel it. The attendance will most likely dip this Sunday, the excitement will wane, and your own energy might feel a little drained too.

You're not alone. 🫂

Many pastors and pastors’ wives experience what’s known as the post-Easter letdown. It’s real. It’s common. And it’s something we can move through with grace, faith, and purpose.

Let me remind you of something important: your calling isn’t seasonal. God didn’t call you just for the “big days.” He called you for every day—in the highs and in the lows, when the room is packed and when it’s not. Easter was a mountaintop moment, yes. But there’s beauty, growth, and divine assignments waiting in the valleys too.

Here are a few practical ways to navigate the post-Easter dip:

  1. Rest and Recharge 😮‍💨
You gave a lot. Emotionally, physically, spiritually. Don’t feel guilty for needing a breather. Take time to rest without apology. Go on a walk. Take a nap. Schedule a day off. Replenishing your soul is a holy act.

  2. Celebrate the Wins 🎉
Don’t rush past what God did! Sit down with your journal or a friend and reflect: What prayers were answered? Who came to church for the first time? What seeds were planted? You may not see the full harvest yet, but trust—it’s growing.

  3. Resist the Numbers Trap 🙏
The Sunday after Easter may not look as “impressive,” but remember:
faithfulness is not measured by attendance. It’s measured by obedience. Keep sowing. Keep serving. Keep showing up.

  4. Refocus on Your “Why” 💭
Why did you say yes to ministry in the first place? Go back to that. Your calling is bigger than one weekend. God is not finished. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is alive in you—today, this week, and beyond Easter.

  5. Cast Vision for What’s Next 💪
Ask God to give you fresh vision. What is He doing in your church and in you? Begin to stir up anticipation again—not just for a date on the calendar, but for the daily work of the Kingdom. The best is still ahead.

I want to encourage you today to stay the course. The letdown you may experience is not a sign of failure. It’s an opportunity to lean in and be refreshed, to remember that the resurrection we celebrated is the same power that sustains us every single day.

You are seen. You are valued. And you are making a difference—even on the quiet Sundays. 💛

With grace and gratitude,

susan
